A water filter is a fixture of homes around the world. Many of us have them, but with all the innovation in kitchen appliances in the past decades, the version many of us own has remained untouched. We're still using a cheap plastic pitcher that has no place on a table. Our funnel is made to work with any bottle or carafe that you own. Filter your water, place it in the fridge to chill, if you’d like, and then remove it and bring it straight to the table when you’re ready to serve. We thought there had to be a better way to get the benefits of filtering impurities, but to also look attractive enough to live on a shelf and not create another plastic object.

We could have made just another filter pitcher, but we didn’t. The idea of making some other version of a product that already existed wasn’t exciting. It needed to be a whole new idea and a whole new experience. Drinking water from a plastic pitcher with a built in filter didn’t produce the water we wanted to drink so how could we reimagine the process to create the result we wanted? We looked at coffee and that was one of the ways we arrived at our funnel design. There are many ways to brew coffee and many enjoy the ritual, why couldn’t we do the same for water? Inventing a totally new product made it more challenging, but also gave us a result we’re proud of. We designed the funnel to fit on many sizes of vessels, everything from a wine bottle to larger mouthed carafe. We intentionally wanted it to not just be another object, but to integrate into what we already have. On our website, we have a carafe you can buy, but it’s certainly not necessary.

How does the Belon work? It’s simple, gravity. You fill the funnel with water from the tap and then you place it on top of your bottle or carafe. There’s a drip stop so it won’t start filtering until it’s placed. Depending on your water, a new filter takes about five minutes to filter a liter or 34 oz of water. As the filter catches impurities, it slows down. This is the filter doing its job. Each Belon comes with three objects in its kit, stainless steel funnel, storage stand, and our filter, using the latest filter media technology. Filters are good for fifty gallons, which typically last three months if you’re using it twice daily or six months if only once a day.
