About
BeWell is an adaptive apparel brand creating products to make life easier for people going through the moments they never planned for; infusions, chemotherapy, dialysis, hospital stays, surgeries, injections and life with chronic illness. Our thoughtfully designed apparel provides discreet access to IVs, ports, PICC lines, feeding tubes, drains and other medical devices, helping patients stay warm, covered and comfortable while giving care teams the access they need. When the access points are closed, they simply look like the clothes you already love to wear.
BeWell was founded by Amanda after her own experience living with Crohn’s disease and spending years in and out of hospitals. She knew firsthand what it felt like to pull up a sleeve, remove layers or sacrifice comfort and privacy just to receive care. BeWell was created from a simple belief: the clothes you wear during some of the hardest days of your life should make those days a little easier, not remind you that you're a patient.
BeWell goes beyond what you wear, creating thoughtful products for the entire treatment day. From blankets and totes to pill holders, Belt Buffers and Over It Wraps, every piece is designed to solve a real need and bring more comfort, dignity and ease to life in treatment.
Today, BeWell creates adaptive clothing for adults and children across diagnoses and treatments, with designs made to feel intentional, modern and anything but medical. Because behind every port, IV, tube, scar and treatment is still a person, and those are some of the strongest people we know.
Founding Story
BeWell was born from founder Amanda’s own experience living with Crohn’s disease and spending years navigating hospitals, bloodwork and procedures. During one hospital stay, she found herself freezing in a gown, trying to stay covered while nurses repeatedly needed access to her arms and body and she remembers thinking there had to be a better way. She began imagining clothing that could give medical teams the access they needed without asking patients to sacrifice their warmth, privacy, or sense of self. That idea became BeWell: thoughtfully designed adaptive apparel and treatment-day essentials created by someone who understands what it feels like to be on the other side of the IV. What started as a solution to Amanda’s own experience has grown into a brand built around making some of life’s hardest days feel a little more comfortable, dignified and human.
At a Glance
-
Designed from lived patient experience
Patient-founded, design-led brand, BeWell, combines lived patient experience with an unusually strong emphasis on aesthetics. Products start with real treatment-day problems, but the goal is to create apparel and accessories that feel premium, modern, and desirable, not defined by illness.
-
Purpose-built adaptive access, not modified basics
BeWell garments are designed specifically around medical access, with discreet zipper placements for IVs, ports, PICCs, dialysis access, feeding tubes, drains, injections and other medical lines, while still looking like premium everyday apparel. They are doctor and nurse approved. BeWell deliberately hides functionality through discreet construction, including access zippers with fabric flaps above and below them. Their use of discreet zippers on some designs allows them to add more access without taking away from aesthetics.
-
Protected, recognizable brand
BeWell has invested in registered/protected trademarks along with patented designs. Their distinctive product concepts are building a recognizable brand within adaptive apparel.
-
One garment - Multiple Treatments
The Multi-Access collection is especially press-worthy because a single design can provide access to several areas of the body rather than being built around one diagnosis or procedure. That broadens its use across cancer treatment, chronic illness, dialysis, infusion therapy, tube feeding, ostomy care, and more. This was on purpose. Sometimes ports fail, and they need to use the arm. Sometimes one arm has bad veins, and they need to use the other arm.
-
HSA/FSA Accessibility
BeWell's eligible adaptive products and accessories can be purchased using HSA/FSA funds, making medically functional apparel more accessible and positioning the products as more than conventional clothing.

Amanda is the founder and CEO of BeWell, an adaptive apparel and treatment-day essentials brand inspired by her own lifelong experience as a patient. Growing up in Reading, Pennsylvania, Amanda experienced unexplained health issues from an early age. Her symptoms were often attributed to things like gas or constipation, leaving her wondering if she was doing something wrong and carrying the guilt of being the “medical child” in her family. At 17, after a stay in the ICU, she was finally diagnosed with Crohn’s disease.
Amanda earned her undergraduate degree in finance and personal finance from Shippensburg University and later an MBA from Penn State with a concentration in finance. She spent 17 years at Vanguard, holding roles across the front, middle and back office and working closely with portfolio managers. Throughout her career, Amanda became known for improving processes and finding solutions to complex problems, including helping establish Vanguard’s first middle office and designing its first corporate-actions processing system, which was used to process millions worth of trades.
The idea for BeWell came during a hospital stay in 2022. Amanda needed an IV, which meant she couldn’t simply pull on a hoodie from home. She was cold, emotionally overwhelmed and away from her husband and young children when she called for a nurse and waited about 15 minutes for help. The wait felt much longer. As she sat there, she began thinking about what would happen if the next time she pressed that button, she needed help for something more urgent. Why should she need a nurse simply to get warm? That small but deeply vulnerable moment sparked a much bigger idea: clothing designed around medical access could give patients back a little independence, comfort and dignity during a time when so much already feels outside of their control.
In many ways, BeWell brought together two sides of Amanda that had always existed. Long before her career in finance, she was the kid making beaded jewelry to sell and finding things to turn into a business at yard sales. She later developed a love for interior design but considered creativity more of a passion than a career. BeWell became the intersection she never expected, combining design, entrepreneurship, problem-solving and a patient experience she understood firsthand.
Entirely bootstrapped and self-funded, BeWell has grown from an idea in a hospital room into a brand creating adaptive apparel and thoughtful products for people navigating infusions, chemotherapy, dialysis, hospital stays, surgeries, injections and chronic illness. Amanda designs products around the real experiences of the people who wear them.
A lifelong Pennsylvanian, Amanda now lives in the King of Prussia area with her college sweetheart and their two sons, ages 8 and 7.
