Gainesville, FL, USA— October 1, 2026 — Blue Rides, a liveaboard scuba diving booking platform, officially launched in September 2026, at bluerides.com. Co-founded by underwater videographer Erol Buchholtz and underwater photographer Kimber Greenwood, Blue Rides helps divers find and book liveaboard trips worldwide, with DAN Europe Short Term Dive Protection insurance included in every booking at no cost to the customer. Currently, Blue Rides hosts approximately 300 boats in 35 countries worldwide with over 25,000 itineraries available.
Founding Story
Why Blue Rides exists
Blue Rides grew out of a bad experience. Co-founder and CEO Erol Buchholtz was once stranded without support during a dive trip booked through another platform. That experience shaped the company's core belief: when divers are far from home, the company that booked their trip should have their back.

Kimber Greenwood is an award-winning underwater portrait photographer with a background in marine biology, and co-founder of Blue Rides, a liveaboard dive travel platform built by divers, for divers. With more than 24 years of scuba experience, she has built a career in the water that blends science, art and adventure.
Kimber holds a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology and a BSN in Nursing. She worked on the Deepwater Horizon oil spill and has served on the communications board of the Florida Springs Council.
As the owner of Water Bear Photography in Gainesville, Florida, Kimber specializes in luxury women's portraiture, with a focus on underwater, She has written for PetaPixel on underwater photography safety, drawing on her background as a Master Scuba Diver, former lifeguard and swim instructor, and leads Water Workshops to help jumpstart the next generation of water creatives. At Blue Rides, Kimber leads branding, marketing, sales and content, bringing a photographer's eye and a diver's experience to helping travelers find the right liveaboard. She is a Dive Rite sponsored photographer and will present at DEMA Show 2026 in New Orleans.
