BYODIRI is a Houston-based home fragrance and décor brand creating mood-led products inspired by the feeling of home.
Each collection is designed to help people shape the atmosphere of their space, whether they want it to feel calm, cozy, energizing, welcoming, or grounded. Fragrance, storytelling, and thoughtful design come together to make everyday moments at home feel more intentional and personal.
BYODIRI candles are hand-poured in small batches using coconut-blend wax, wood wicks, and phthalate-free fragrance oils. From the scent names and mood statements to the packaging and final presentation, every detail is thoughtfully created to feel expressive, approachable, and at home in a beautifully curated space.
As an independently run brand, BYODIRI offers retailers distinctive home fragrance products with a clear point of view, a strong visual identity, and a personal connection behind every order.

Founding Story
I have always been a homebody, someone who spends a lot of time at home and cares deeply about how that space feels.
I wanted my home to feel personal, look beautiful, and smell just as good. I saw fragrance as more than a finishing touch; it could shift the energy of a room, create comfort, and make ordinary moments feel more intentional. That belief became the foundation of BYODIRI.
With a background in design, I was naturally drawn to every part of creating the brand. From developing fragrance concepts and visualizing the mood behind each scent to designing the packaging and telling the story of each collection. I wanted to create home fragrance that felt expressive and thoughtfully designed, while still being approachable enough to become part of everyday life.
Today, I remain closely involved in every part of BYODIRI. I develop the collections, design the brand experience, hand-pour each candle in small batches, and prepare every order. What began with my desire to make my own home feel more like me has grown into a brand that helps others create spaces that feel personal, comforting, and entirely their own.

Chika Otuata is the founder and creative director of BYODIRI, a Houston-based home fragrance and décor brand inspired by the feeling of home. A multidisciplinary designer with an MFA in Communication Design, she brings together fragrance, storytelling, and visual design to create mood-led products that make everyday spaces feel more personal. Inspired by her own life as a homebody, Chika founded BYODIRI to help others create homes that look beautiful, smell inviting, and reflect how they want to feel.
