Noël & Co. is a Canadian candle studio based in rural Nova Scotia, handcrafting apothecary-inspired candles with a focus on quality, community, and purpose. Run by a mother and her two daughters, the brand has grown from a small kitchen startup into a multi-generational business with a national reach — all while staying true to its roots.
With a deep commitment to giving back, Noël & Co. donates 2% of all sales to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, a cause close to their hearts. The business is proudly queer- and disability-owned, and their inclusive values shape everything from their partnerships to their product development. Known for their warm, timeless aesthetic and slow-burning, eco-conscious candles, Noël & Co. is more than a home fragrance brand — it’s a heartfelt celebration of craft, care, and community.
Founding Story
Noël & Co. began in 2021, when sisters Janie and Lauren Noël — then just 16 — decided to try candle-making as a way to earn money to travel to Greece (they are huge Greek Mythology nerds!). What started as a small creative project quickly evolved into something much bigger, with their mother Raina joining the business after finding comfort and purpose in the work during a difficult chapter of her own.
The company was named after their family’s last name, which means “Christmas” in French — a fitting symbol for the warmth and tradition they hoped to pour into each candle. For Lauren, who lives with cerebral palsy and is a two-time kidney transplant recipient, the business has always been about more than candles: it’s a way to build something lasting, meaningful, and inclusive. Together, the Noël women have built a brand that’s equal parts craftsmanship and heart.

Lauren Noël is the voice and vision behind Noël & Co.’s storytelling. As co-founder, she leads social media and brand communication, shaping the way customers connect with the heart of the business. Lauren started Noël & Co. with her twin sister Janie at just 16, driven by an entrepreneurial spirit and a belief in creating something meaningful from the ground up. A two-time kidney transplant recipient and advocate for disability inclusion, Lauren brings authenticity and purpose to everything she shares — always with warmth, humour, and heart.

Janie Noël co-founded Noël & Co. with her twin sister Lauren at age 16, turning a creative outlet into a growing family-run business. While she began by overseeing day-to-day production, Janie now focuses primarily on the artistic side of the brand, creating original artwork for the studio’s limited-edition candle collections. A thoughtful maker with a quiet, steady presence, her eye for detail and design continues to shape the look and feel of Noël & Co., one brushstroke at a time.

Raina Noël joined Noël & Co. not long after its founding, drawn to the therapeutic rhythm of candle-making during a period of personal loss. As the mother of co-founders Lauren and Janie, she plays a central role in keeping the business grounded and growing. From managing day-to-day operations to leading customer service and representing Noël & Co. at local markets, Raina brings warmth, humour, and care to everything she touches. She’s also an avid reader and adventurer, always ready with a story or a smile — whether in the studio or on the road.
