OUTDOOR FELLOW draws inspiration from nature, whether it’s the allure of faraway places or the simple pleasures of a backyard. We believe that scent is a powerful tool, capable of transforming your home, enhancing your well-being, and inspiring you to step away from modern distractions and embrace the outdoors.
OUTDOOR FELLOW started as a hobby in 2018 for founder Patrick Jones in his fourth-floor, walk-up apartment in the middle of Manhattan. Being stuck in a crowded city with limited access to wild, natural areas inspired his philosophy that if you can’t get out to nature, bring nature to you. Each scent is designed to evoker positive memories of the outdoors and transport you to those cherished moments in time, whether it’s a day hiking in the woods, a trip to the beach, or simply enjoying your backyard garden. Our scents help promote better well-being and mindfulness while enhancing your home with a beautiful aroma.
OUTDOOR FELLOW is committed to giving back and has donated to various non-profit organizations like Trust for Public Land, Reef Renewal Bonaire, and the Hawaii Wildlife Fund, all of whom have committed to preserving and protecting our natural world.

Founding Story

If you had told me in my twenties that I would start a home fragrance business from my tiny Manhattan apartment, I wouldn’t have believed you. Well, the joke’s on me! My passion for creating something with my own two hands, alongside my love of nature, and infatuation with home fragrances evolved into OUTDOOR FELLOW.
What started with a simple DIY candle-making kit turned into a passion of learning everything I could about home fragrances. After lots of trial and error, I honed my skills and began to create unique fragrances that reminded me of places I loved. I discovered that my mood would change for the better when I could smell those scents, and they motivated me to get back out to nature, whether it be a simple walk to a local park or a weekend backpacking in the mountains in upstate New York.
In 2018, I launched OUTDOOR FELLOW and never looked back. I don’t make the fragrances in my kitchen anymore but everything is still handcrafted and the vision remains the same: to create scents that make your home smell amazing, promote a better well-being, and inspire you to take a break from today's modern distractions and create new memories in the outdoors.

Patrick Jones is the founder of Outdoor Fellow who discovered his passion for scented candles and home fragrances in an unexpected way.
His journey began with a love for scented candles to elevate his home which ultimately led to the simple purchase of a 'make-it-yourself' candle kit. This experience ignited a newfound love and interest in candle-making, especially for scents that were not readily available in the market. Patrick's deep appreciation for nature and the outdoors inspired him to create candles that encapsulate the essence of the wilderness, bringing a slice of the great outdoors into homes.
In 2018, amidst a successful career in fashion, Patrick decided to channel his passion into a tangible venture, leading to the birth of Outdoor Fellow. This side business was a harmonious blend of his professional expertise and personal interests, focusing on crafting candles with scents that evoke the tranquility and beauty of nature.
By 2022, Patrick's dedication and vision for Outdoor Fellow had grown so strong that he made a pivotal decision. He chose to leave his thriving fashion career to devote himself entirely to Outdoor Fellow. His commitment to building and expanding the brand is a testament to his belief in the unique value and appeal of his products. Under his guidance, Outdoor Fellow continues to thrive, bringing the serene and invigorating scents of the outdoors into homes everywhere.
Outside of Outdoor Fellow, Patrick is an avid home cook with an obsession for baking bread as well as the perfect omelette. He enjoys going on daily long walks with his dog Lincoln where often times inspiration for new home fragrances emerge. He's also an avid scuba diver and is always looking for his next spot to dive.
