Lori Lange on Instagram: "Other than skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common cancer found in American women. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

On Sept. 10, 2024, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) began a requirement that all mammogram reports include breast density information. Mammography facilities must notify patients about their breast density as either “not dense” or “dense.” The communication to women with dense breasts should recommend discussing follow-up screening options and individual risk for breast cancer. The new guidelines are intended to improve early detection of breast cancer. THANK GOODNESS! ❤️

I’m sharing my story again this year, since it’s so important for everyone to hear. I had a regular, clear mammogram 3 yrs ago. 2 months after that, I got a call that I had been flagged as “high risk,” and they wanted me to come in for breast education. The educator shared with me that there were several factors that contributed to putting me into the higher risk category (mainly dense breast tissue and family cancer history). So she told me they’d like to do an MRI (more intensive) mammo once a year. I had the MRI mammo, and they called to tell me I had two spots that needed biopsies. The biopsies were done, and then I got the call: “a little bit of cancer.” The doctor told me that it was very small and treatable. I met with the surgeon, who shared that I was lucky it was detected early (stage 1). I asked her if I was now going to have MRI biopsies since the regular mammo hadn’t detected the cancer. She had me go in for (another) regular mammo to see if a current mammo would see the cancer. IT DIDN’T. And it would likely have been a couple of years and much more advanced before a regular mammo detected it. I had a lumpectomy and then a short radiation treatment after. I didn’t really tell many people because... how do you tell someone you have cancer? That’s it. I’m doing fine now. I’m 3 years cancer free. I’m beyond grateful that it was early stage, treatable and that I had the means to take care of treatment.

I’m thankful that I am with a medical system (MAYO Clinic) that was proactive in ordering further screening. ❤️ Don’t be afraid to speak up!"

Lori Lange on Instagram: "We traveled with @vikingcruises on their Iceland’s Majestic Landscapes itinerary, which started in Bergen, Norway… then sailed around Norway with a stop in the Faroe Islands on the way to Iceland. Here’s the ICELAND portion of our trip! We added on a couple days on our own in Reykjavik. Such a fun trip!

➡️COMMENT the word CRUISE, and I’ll DM you the clickable link to my whole write up about this cruise.

I share brands heavily in my stories, so I don't have a lot of static posts to share from Instagram (but I'm always happy to do so).
